CAEP Outbound Program Overseas Opportunities for Americans

Description:
The CA Education Program (CAEP) offers a wide range of educational opportunities for young Americans to live and work abroad in various agricultural fields, including:
  • Agriculture: Crops, Dairy, Sheep, Swine

  • Horticulture: Fruits, Vegetables, Greenhouse Production, Landscaping, Tree Nursery and Turf Management

  • Wine: Enology, Viticulture, Lab

  • Equine: Stable, Racing, Breeding and Show
The CAEP Outbound Program is an opportunity for one to gain valuable experience, learn more about different cultures, strengthen communication skills, and improve one's employment opportunities in his/her home country. As a CAEP participant, you will have the opportunity to learn about the different cultures and the farming, agricultural and business techniques used in different countries. CAEP will also build an online skills resume and issue a certificate validated by CAEP and the U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) of the skills you have acquired in your program experiences. We work with 42 countries, including Australia, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, South Africa, Sweden and Switzerland. Each country has different agricultural programs to offer as well as different guidelines for our applicants. A foreign language is not required to participate in the program. Most participants are college age (though they can range from 18 - 35+ depending on the host country) and many make special arrangements to obtain college credit.

Goals, Purpose & Benefits of the Program:
  • Participants in the program are generally provided with room and board and a monthly stipend.

  • You will have ongoing support from our country partner organizations and the CAEP staff while you are overseas.

  • Provides young adults with experience through applied training programs.

  • Provides young adults with the opportunity to develop an understanding of the lifestyles and cultural patterns in different countries.

  • Increases knowledge of foreign cultures and languages.

  • Promotes recognition of cultural, technical, and academic values of the program by awarding certificates and/or college credits.

  • Exchange programs typically run from 3 to 18 months depending on host country.

"My experience in the country was nothing short of life changing. Friends and memories were made, tears and laughter shared, new languages were learned, hundreds of photos taken and my life changed forever."
Kate Ryan, Titusville, NJ, CAEP Outbound Equine Program 2005.
